La Posada Regia

This typical Leonese building dates back to 1370 and exudes an old world rustic charm that is sure to impress. The fact that it is located right in the heart of the old town and just a stone’s throw from the famous Gothic cathedral with its stained glass windows, simply adds to the pleasure of staying here. Attention to detail and care in combining the old with the new is palpable. Just witness the dining room, for example, which seamlessly encompasses part of the Roman wall, the creature comforts, including the excellent local cuisine at the hotel’s restaurant (which actually predates the hotel by some decades) the lift to all three floors, or the original looking staircases.
Decoration hits just the right note – contemporary watercolours and engravings combined with medieval furniture, distinctly furnished bedrooms painted in warm colours and ample sized bathrooms, many of which also have balconies.
A word of note: the hotel is located in a pedestrian area. It might help to phone before arriving to find out how best to unload luggage from the car. Final word: the hotel purchased another building in 2004 (19th century ) which added a further 17 rooms, all of which have been decorated in the old world charm of the original building. Quality and service in the "new" buiding (after all this one is roughly only 150 years old) is identical and is located in the neighbouring street.
