One cannot but fail to be impressed by the sight of the 18th century twin towered edifice and its granite freestone as it comes stunningly into view.
This is a magnificent manor house in all respects - beautiful Portuguese architecture, private chapel, vast 30 hectare farming estate producing port as well as excellent red and white table wines, surrounding landscapes of utter beauty as the Douro river meanders towards the sea and employees (the actual owners live in Lisbon) who truly care for the house and region.
They imbue the house with simple regional tastes, such as the laces on the sofas on top of the typical Portuguese decoration and their welcoming nature adds to the palpable sense of peace and tranquillity. Activities here include wine tasting (a visit to the cellars is highly recommended), bike riding and a number water activities in the nearby Douro River.
The Casa das Torres de Oliviera also boasts an excellent swimming pool with excellent views of the countryside. Dinner can only be served in advance but there are many fine restaurants nearby.
Indeed, the house is close by to three of the region's most charming towns - Lamego, Vila Real and Amarante. Well worth a visit.

We found this a wonderful place to stay, fabulous scenery, wonderful historic building, fantastic staff and service, headed by superb concierge SONIA, who could not do enough to help us.
We had a few lovely authentic evening meals whilst staying there, (not advertised by Secret Escapes) A veryinformative Port wine tasting, and of course some fabulous 'Casa de Torres' Wine and Port.

this is place is outstanding. we stayed at 2 properties in this area, one is considered a luxury place, and I have to say the Casa das Torres is much better.
The whole place has some much character, the views are spectacular, the swimming pool is large. The service was really good.
The breakfast was included and had several nice options.
The value of the property for the service, location and quality is really good.
Beautiful and restful stay!

We had a wonderful 3 nights here. Our room was large and charming and the view was incredible. The staff was helpful and courteous and the wine tasting on the property with Sonya was very enjoyable. The breakfast was good and didn't change during the 3 days that we were there. The only issue was our squeaky bed but it was a minor inconvenience that did not keep us from a very peaceful and restful stay. Would love to come back again.

Casa das Torres de Oliveira was everything described and more! The pictures really don't do it justice but this old house nestled into the vineyards is truly stunning (as is the panoramic views that you get from the grounds. It's well set up, with attentive staff and good facilities. Decor wise it's a little dated for my taste, but everything was clean and well kept. Overall I would highly recommend a stay here whilst in Duoro.
