BB22 Bed & Breakfast

As a rule, bed & breakfasts, however welcoming and well located, tend to be on the dowdy and amateurish side of the spectrum of accommodations – worn out curtains here a carpet needing replacements there, which means the title of this particular bed & breakfast is almost a misnomer (That's why we've labelled it a city break hotel). The BB22 is sophisticated, modern and trendy – offering B&B designer chic, so to speak, and not your usual run of the mill bed & breakfast atmosphere. What you get here is a stylish getaway right in the heart of Palermo, a city with huge character.
Though the modern feel is all pervading, the building itself dates back to the 15th century. No matter, the past and the present go together well at the BB22. Inside, Patricia Marchetti, the owner, has created a place that offers 6 flawless and spacious rooms – all decorated in an up to date sensual style. There’s also a rooftop terrace from which to enjoy the views of Palermo. Yet like most bed and breakfasts, the atmosphere inside is also friendly and family like. It may not have the fully-fledged service of a hotel per se. Reception, for example, is not 27/4 and closes at 21:00 hours (unless you inform beforehand) and there is no full restaurant as such, though there are a myriad of great eateries nearby. Now back to the Palermo.
Italy may have a wealth of better known towns and cities, but few are as genuine and friendly as this one. The whole area around the BB22 is also being renovated which is giving the city a new vibrancy. It may be bustling and noisy (but even here the BB22 comes with double glazing) but it wears its heart on its sleeve and now Palermo has got a place to stay that does the place justice.
