Hotel Sainte Beuve
Being located in the 6th "Arrondissement" (or district) of Paris, the Hotel le Saint-Beuve certainly strikes an intellectual note, as this area is also home to the major publishing houses, universities, bookshops and small theatres - not to mention wonderful restaurants, coffee houses and antique shops.
The upshot of it all is a very authentic feel to the surroundings, with fewer tourists and accompanying hubbub, yet the area is still central enough for the Latin Quarter, and Jardins du Luxembourg to be only a walk away.
Thus, the smart money is on the Hotel Le Saint-Beuve if you are looking for a truly feel good accommodation that offers a slice of authentic Paris. And what a slice it is too, for just like the area, this hotel is classy and of excellent taste (it was decorated by the famous British designer David Hicks).
The hotel is also wonderfully accommodating to guests, for the philosophy of the Le Saint-Bleuve is to make you feel as though you feel at home and a rather chic one at that, so rooms are decorated in pastel colours, soft lights and fine linen, whilst the chimney you see in the lounge is real! There’s nothing fake here.
Simply put, we loved it, especially considering the excellent price to quality ratio.
