La Locanda

You’ll love this place” is how a guest lovingly talked about the La Locanda. In truth, it is a dream set in some of the most unspoiled landscapes of Chianti. Surrounded by vineyards, woods and olive groves, and overlooking Volpaia, a magnificent medieval village facing Radda in Chianti, what could you expect, for Chianti is already the creme de la creme. As for the house, originally a 16th-century farm it has all the relaxed atmosphere of a comfortable country house and friendliness that comes from a family-run atmosphere and small staff. In the larger house, there are six double rooms and a suite, each with a private bathroom.
The nearby former stables now house the sitting room with a large fireplace, library with bar, and dining room, leading to a large sunny terrace. Although the rooms have all modern conveniences, the furniture and color schemes have been carefully chosen to keep the atmosphere of a private house. Next to the swimming pool, there is a large terrace with breathtaking views for outdoor dining. All this makes La Locanda the perfect retreat after visiting Chianti Classico cellars, a walk through the woods, or a hard day’s sightseeing in nearby Florence, Siena, Arezzo, or San Gimignano.
