Sintra itself is well known for being charming, romantic and beautiful at the same time. The same also applies for the São Miguel Guest House, which can be found in Sintra’s old town. In the middle of jacaranda trees, wisteria and Portuguese roses, you can relax in the hotel garden and enjoy your vacation to the fullest. Should the weather not be warm enough: How about reading a good book by the fireplace in the hotel-library? Under any circumstances: Here it never gets boring.
The building, which has its origins in the 19th century, has not "just" a beautiful garden and a well-stocked library. Frescoes and dark-wood furnishings give the house a great atmosphere. Guests can enjoy their breakfast in the spacious dining-room. This intimate, stylish B & B is absolutely here to spoil you.
Each room is unique: Some offer direct views of the legendary Moorish castle, others have a luxurious marble bathtub. In addition, this property has a nice terrace from which you can overlook the National Palace of Pena. Dine in the tapas bar that offers fine wines or enjoy a romantic dinner with many Portuguese delicacies.
Despite all the idyll you can also benefit from the central location: Lisbon Airport is 30 minutes away; Sintra Railway Station can be reached in just 1.3 kilometres. The buses that go to the palaces stop 200 meters from this accommodation.

We had a wonderful stay in Maria' place, as well as her helper is very helpful. Our room on the top floor has 2 different nice views, one from the master bed side, and the other from the bathroom. Beware of No lift in such cozy guesthouse, and the staircase is quite narrow, so if you have few big luggage's with you; would be your cardio time! Also, the bathtub maybe too small but l guess it's the way from the very old design. Parking maybe difficult by the door and we drove 2 rounds before found a side way to fit for our vehicle. We would come back, if chance.
Perfect retreat from busy Sintra

Superb room, we had the suite. Beautiful decor, a terrace, chairs for reading, lovely linen...we were very comfortable.
Breakfast was great, tea in the garden a wonderful respite after a busy day sight seeing.
Owner was charming and very accommodating about a late check out.
We have recommended to friends since returning home who are planning a visit to Lisbon Sintra.
what a treasure of a place

Sao Miguel guesthouse is fabulous and Theresa the hostess is the person to talk to if you like good food and want a recommendation. It is very close to the old town but quite a trek from the train station especially with bags! The rooms are exquisite and the breakfast was amazing. We completely loved it and would god again.

Quiet Gem in Sintra
Date of stay 19/03/2015
The Sao Miguel Guesthouse is a beautiful property towards the top of the hill in Sintra. It is located on a quiet residential street, but be warned that Sintra is a very active city so the quietness is relative - it is certainly quieter than any of the other major properties in Sintra. If this is your first trip to Sintra, I would recommend at least 3 days here, to explore all of the castles and monuments. The Guesthouse has a garden where breakfast is served in warm weather, else breakfast is in a sun-room on the garden level. The Guesthouse is a stately classic home with a variety of rooms and updated plumbing (very important!). I would recommend this place if you are staying in Sintra.
