First things first - this peaceful, beautiful, wonderfully located hotel is not really appropriate for children, so kids under 12 are not accepted.
The idea behind this is for couples and honeymooners alike to get away from the little cherubs and simply enjoy the great peace if affords without undue disturbance.
And boy does it offer peace - in great style too. For on top of the beautiful lakes and outstanding countryside that surrounds it, the Cortisen also boasts being Salzkammergut’s first boutique hotel.
Thankfully, though, the design is not done for design’s sake  but rather to further enhance your stay, so you get a mix of colonial with modern, country house with Mediterranean and all beautifully put together with great attention to detail.
This also rings true for all the 32 rooms, which are individually designed in different styles, atmospheres and colours. There's a wide range of them too, offering mountain or lake views. All panoramas are gorgeous though, so take your pick.
It has plenty else on offer too, from an exclusive spa area and “comfort zone” with heated water beds steam baths and saunas, to beauty treatments and massages. On the other side of the spectrum you can even hire the hotel’s very own Harley Davidson motorbike (see hotel board) and take it for a whirl along the stunning country lanes.
It’s this quirky mix of design and out of the box thinking with bucolic paradise and good old fashioned hospitality that makes the Cortisen such an enticing proposition.
