If you have read any of our other reviews of charming Algarve accommodations, you'll probably realise that Tavira is one of the region's favourite towns. Sleepy, and almost timeless, it is one of the Algarve's last bastions of authenticity by the sea. We love it. Some of our favourite places to stay are found in Tavira as well, and Tavira House is the new stunner in our selection. Built some 160 years ago to a wealthy Portuguese military family, it has now been beautifully restored into a luxury town house hotel.
And there's the Tavira House's unique selling point right there: it is the only small intimate and luxurious bed & breakfast townhouse to be found right in the centre of town.
The renovation, which took quite a few years to conclude, takes in traditional southern architecture with a hint of Moorish and fuses this with a contemporary interior design.
The end result is a 9 bedroom house that also takes in aa ballroom lounge, dining room, residents bar, plunge pool and roof garden, all this underpinned by a sophisticated and chic design.
So, what's your poison? Relax for a long weekend break, play golf in one of the many stunning courses nearby, wind down by the beach which is easy to get to? Then if you want any of this with a touch of class in Tavira, then the Tavira House is an ideal option.
Accommodation:
The Tavira House provides 9 bedrooms varying in size and style and each has been inspired by one of the local flowers seen growing wild in the hills above the town. All rooms offer double beds and the following as standard: wardrobes, dressing tables, irons, hairdryers, sound systems for MP3 players and en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers. The Fuscia room (Double) is the only one to have a bath. Many rooms can be converted into family rooms with the addition of a cot or a single bed.
Very cozy and peaceful place. Location is excelent, us breakfast. The staff is kind and helpful. A nice place to stay in Tavira

Beautifully restored town house, with gorgeous outside terraces including roof terrace with perfect evening sunshine for chilling with a drink from the honesty bar.
The lounges are beautifully furnished, we enjoyed relaxing there after dinner in the evenings. Very relaxing and calm space.
Our room was smallish but with a huge double shower room - one of the best showers ever!
Location is perfect, a very short walk to great restaurants and the river front (where the boat to the beach is). Train station is just around the corner for exploring the coast.

We found Tavira House to be a superb small hotel, the staff were very good , the room was clean and we'll decorated, breakfast was sufficient but it would have been nice to have had a toaster.
Situation is good as it's just a 5minute walk to town, parking whilst on street was not a problem.
All Niall a great place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast included healthy choices such as fruit, muesli and yoghurt. Coffee was plunger style which was a nice change to the bitter taste of some Portuguese hotel coffee. Staff were excellent and helpful. Nice lounge area to relax. Walking distance to ferry and restaurants. Free street parking for entire stay.
