Windlestraw is a very special place and incredibly important in the history of Walkerburn. The Edwardian manor house, set over 3 acres of land, was originally built as a wedding gift for the future wife of a cashmere mill owner and son of the founder of Walkerburn. The noble family chose this location to build the house as it directly overlooks the picturesque Tweed Valley. During your stay, you will be invited to explore the history of the family, house, and location

Nowadays, the grade 2 listed building is lovingly cared for by your hosts John and Sylvia. Both have a lifetime of experience in hospitality and have chosen Windlestraw to create a place to escape, unwind, reflect and indulge in style. Your hosts are always on hand to make your stay a uniquely personal one. The historical house has been renovated to include modern facilities whilst respecting the historical significance. The gardens have been replanted, greenhouse renovated and kitchen garden reinstated. The rooms are stylishly decorated, containing the highest quality beds with 100% Egyptian cotton, and free standing bath tubs. The Grand Room even has an original Edwardian bathtub, like the ones the original owners would have bathed in.

Not only will you be sleeping in luxury but also dining like royalty. The 2 AA Rosette restaurant uses only ingredients grown in the kitchen garden, foraged, or locally sourced to bring you fresh and sustainable meals that will make your mouth water. Gather around the open fire in the intimate bar for a locally brewed beer or artisan cocktail after a long day exploring. The kitchen also provides traditional Edwardian afternoon tea, complete with delicatessen sandwiches, home baked scones, delightful sweet treats, and a glass of bubbly.

The area is full of things to do, with no shortage of historical estates and villages, ancient castles and manor houses. Transport back in history to the times of nobles, ladies and gentlemen. Even follow the footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots. The landscape itself is something to behold and is ideal for walking, cycling, golf, or fishing. Walkerburn is also within easy access of smaller villages, such as Peebles, Melrose, and Kelso, or the larger cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
