Peaceful and stylish retreat near Cannes.
The Les Rosees may not be the easiest place to find, but boy is it worth it when you get there. As you drive up the pebble-strewn path, past a kaleidoscope of exotic flowers, the sense of anticipation grows and unlike many other places we could mention, it will not be dashed once you get there. This 400 year old Provence house is simply a glorious specimen of its kind. As you pass the through the front door for the first time, the elegant period pieces mixed in with rustic antiques and grand piano immediately catch the eye – and this sets the tone for the rest of the stay.
The 4 suites are not only superb but also unique in decoration and feel. We saw three of them: the Serguey Suite, has a glass roof, fire-place, and king size bed, the Isadora suite’s claim to fame is a glass-house lounge, and the St. Honorat suite is…well, just so romantic. Yet, despite its luxurious credentials, Les Rosees remains a cosy place. Guests wonder in the peace and tranquillity of the olive grove garden and the small size of Les Rosees means the ambience is always one of intimacy and privacy, especially so as the owners, Kilperick and Jenny, whilst exceptionally helpful, are discreet and accommodating.
The other great thing about Les Rosees is a perfect location to explore the Côte D’Azur. Away from the worst excesses of this famous region, it is still only a short (but rather precipitous) walk to the old town of Mougins.
A final note: there are no TVs in any of the rooms, though if you desperately want one, this can be arranged for you.

Amazing hotel, staff, chef, grounds decor and Rachel, who manages the hotel, is the icing on the perfectly delightful cake! She has a lovely way of making you feel immediately at home and welcome. She made custom itineraries for us every morning and often surprised us with treats. Christof, the very talented chef, is exceptional - so much so that, although Mougins is full of wonderful restaurants, after enjoying our first meal at Les Rosees, my husband and I were unwilling go elsewhere. We dined "in" all 3 nights and loved everything from the warm welcome into the cozy dining room and the excellent meals, to the walk up the curved staircase into our perfectly French room - decorated in very authentic provencal style (so difficult to find now given the fact that so many hotels have fallen down the modern, minimalist rabbit hole - no lucite or neon lighting in sight here :) Thank you, Rachel, for a magical stay - a bientot :) we will return.

Very tasteful, reclusive hideaway with a homey feel and attentive staff. The family-owned place is a landmark piece of subtle interior design far beyond the common notion of a luxury hotel. Thanks to its small size, it offers extra quiet and comfort and the experienced French chef prepares Mediterranean-style dinner for only a handful of guests. It is one of very few places I am keen to return.
