The Fox Club is not your typical hotel or club, that’s for sure, and is probably one of London’s best kept secrets. Hidden away in a small side street in Mayfair, not too far off Piccadilly, this 18th century town house, boasts nine exquisitely decorated rooms, but it also doubles as a members club open to the public with a bar, restaurant and function room.

What is the idea behind this marriage of the two? It makes for a fantastic location offering the best of both worlds - a fun and friendly place to unwind with friends, eat fine food and then spend the night in wistful comfort. You’ll certainly get a good night’s kip here given all rooms have luxury double sprung mattresses, thick Egyptian cotton sheets and a variety of naughty toiletries.

But if you want to enjoy yourself and let yourself go then that’s fine too. Naughty is probably the operative word. The Fox Club is so named after Charles Fox, one of England’s greatest statesmen - and bon vivant - of the 18th century. It was the house of Elizabeth Armistead, his mistress and eventually wife and, in fact, all of the bedrooms at the Fox Club are named after one of her lovers. The great location in the very heart of Mayfair (Buckingham Palace and Green Park are within touching distance) delicate and exquisite decoration plus history of the place, makes the Fox Club a great proposition.

Please note though that whilst staff are friendly and accommodating, there is no room service as such. In short, the Fox Club retains the ethos of Charles Fox whose vice was to have “a damn good time” if possible in luxurious surroundings.
