Lisbon is fast catching up with the rest of Europe when it comes to downtown luxury boutique accommodation.
Chiado 16, a recent addition to Lisbon’s portfolio of accommodations, is a case in point. Elegant, spacious and contemporary it is also located bang in the middle of the Chiado district and within walking distance of Lisbon's major landmarks, shopping districts and top restaurants. It is a boutique accommodation in every sense.
The historic building has been painstakingly renovated by one of Portugal’s best architects, yet much old world character remains, mixed in with high tech specifications and paraphernalia. One of the noticeable things about Chiado 16 is the space it affords guests. Each room, apartment really, is part of an 85 square metre suite which occupies an entire floor of the building. And with Lisbon being one of Europe’s most picturesque capitals, some areas afford simply superb views.
The Chiado 16 also has some nice touches too, particularly for the discerning business traveller. Free loan of a Portuguese mobile phone, own private telephone line, private HP printer, private letterbox and free airport transfer are just some of the goodies on offer.
But business or pleasure, the Chiado 16 is definitely a welcome addition to Lisbon’s collection of stylish accommodations.
