As it is hard to choose the best place to stay in Lefkada, we recommend to try out more than one place. But as the Island is not that big you can decide to stay in Lefkada town and discover the island from there. The eastern and south-eastern shore is more populated but also very nice. The best choice for those who do not want to be too secluded. For those who want to immerse in nature and fascinating seaviews, the south and west would be the perfect choice.
Lefkada Town – Ideal for culture lovers and café hoppers, this colourful capital is lively yet authentic. You'll find small boutique hotels in neoclassical buildings, as well as elegant holiday flats with views over the marina.
Agios Nikitas – Although Lefkada has escaped being overrun by tourism this tiny pedestrian village nestled above turquoise coves is a bit more touristy than the rest of the island. Perfect for a romantic escape or slow-traveling families. Expect charming B&Bs, holiday homes with shaded terraces and small hotels with a personal touch.

The island’s cuisine is honest and rooted in its land and sea.
Ladopita (oil pie) and Savoro fish are Lefkadian staples, best sampled in local tavernas.
Riganada, a humble dish of bread, olive oil and oregano, makes a perfect meze alongside island-made rosé wine.
In Lefkada town there are numerous good tabernas to choose from.

Travel tips for Lefkada, Greece
Best time to go: Late May to early October. June and September to October offer the best balance of warm weather and fewer crowds.
How to get there: Lefkada is one of the few Greek islands you can reach by car. It's connected to the mainland via a causeway. Fly into Preveza Aktion Airport (PVK), just 20 minutes away, with direct flights from major European cities in summer.
Getting around: Renting a car is highly recommended to explore the island’s hidden beaches and mountain villages.
Stay longer, go deeper: Lefkada rewards those who linger-whether it’s chatting with locals in a taverna or watching goats cross a mountain road. Choose small hotels, holiday flats, or luxury villas with a story, and the island will reveal one of its own.
