Casas da Mata da Cerca
Hotel Type: Country Hotel
Environment: Countryside
Number of Rooms: 3
Style: Unpretentious
These two small country houses can be rented out as a whole and the phrase that comes to mind when describing it is “great value for money”. The location is beyond dispute, situated, as it is, within 15 hectares of woods replete with oaks, chestnuts and hills.
It is also nearby Portugal’s highest mountain range, the Serra da Estrela – or Star Mountain. Lovers of good wine and food will be happy to learn that this is Portuguese “Dão” wine country per excellence and the famous mountain cheese comes from this area as well. Well worth trying if you get the chance.
Decor is simple, clean and functional but odds are you’ll be spending much of your time outside visiting the “serra” with its awe inspiring views and taking advantage of the many possible treks and walks available. A great place to start is the "Serra da Estrela". This beautiful area is a protected National Park.Oon a clear day you might be able to see the sea over 150 kilometres away!
There is plenty to see and do. Dramatic crags and ravines makes this area a stunningly beautiful drive or hike. There are several walking trails. In winter this magical area is transformed into a glittering white kingdom. Indeed, the Casas da Mata da Cerca is definitely a place for nature lovers, at a very good value to boot.
