Faial is one of the Azores’ most beautiful islands, filled with more beautifully blue hydrangeas than any other, giving it the nickname ‘Blue Island’. It’s small, only 21km in length and a maximum of 14km in width, but there is plenty to see and do. It forms part of the Central Group and Triangle Islands, also including São Jorge and Pico. It is named Faial after all of the beech trees (faias in Portuguese) that you will find on its shores. The landscape is mostly volcanic but you’ll also find hills, greenery and harbours, such as the one found at the main city of Horta. Wherever you would like to stay, we can help!
