Actiities in Douro

Amarante is a charming place, where you should visit the monastery São Gonçalo.
Furthermore, there are taking places different flew markets and in the Confeitaria da Pontes you can taste typical pastries.
Provesende is a little village with the bakery Fatima, where they still produce bread in a traditional way.
Régua is definitely worth a visit as well. There are a lot of good restaurants and a nice museum.
5 km further, Casa Calços do Tanha will wait for you. A nice place to taste regional wines and regional food.
Tarouca, Ucanha and Salzedas are a trip back through the previous ages: an Cistercian abbey from 1168, a visit in the old monastery and a unique dinner in Casa do Paço de Dalvares.
Of course, you should try the different vines from all the vineyards!
The whole region can be discovered by train, boat or by car.

Let's try a feijoada à portuguesa (Portuguese bean stew) or a delicious bife à portuguesa (beefsteak). Even if you love fish, this is the right place for you! For example the famous arroz de peixe (fish rice) is very popular!
