Grand Hotel Continental

Environment: City
Number of Rooms: 51

Michael Angelo would surely have approved of the Grand Hotel Continental.
This aristocratic mansion was built by the great Baroque architect Giovanni Fontana and initially started off life in the 17th century as the superb Gori Palace. It has since been painstakingly renovated to a beautiful standard with many of its historic features remaining intact. Step inside the imposing entrance and you will see what we mean, as guests are transported into an awe-inspiring combination of Italian style elegance, paintings and magnificent frescoes adorning the walls.
The banqueting hall is just a case in point but there are others. It all adds up to a special atmosphere that carries on into the rooms, which are extremely large and lush by most standards - heavenly beds, luxury linen and even marble bathrooms. Then there’s the location, just a stroll away from the wonderful Piazza del campo, considered by some to be one of the most beautiful squares in the world, where the world famous Palio horse race takes place twice a year.
