A unique area in which to stay and enjoy the best of Lanzarote.
The area around the town of Yaiza sure is pretty, one of the loveliest areas of the whole Canary islands, no less, so it’s unsurprising that in the early 19th century, a wealthy landowner decided to build his summer vocation here facing the Fenauso Valley. The area really is unique, what with the Timanfaya national Park and the Papagayo beaches nearby. He built a rustic, yet elegant house of simple clear lines boasting the traditional architecture of the island and encompassed by 1500 square metre gardens.
That’s how the Casona de Yaiza began its life and whilst this excellent base still remains, things sure have changed since then. Totally renovated in 2003, the Casona de Yaiza has very much been brought into the 21st century. The three “art crazies” have upgraded the Casona to include a plethora of eclectic goodies, from classical paintings to modern light colour combinations – the word kitsch may come to mind - and adding total comfort and a wonderful levels of service. Rooms are large and take in all mod cons, whilst activities are varied. Taking out a bike to explore the Luna like area is highly recommended. As a previous guest once said “Magnifico” and that means Splendid in any language.
Food is also great at the A La carte restaurant, the Jacuzzi and swimming pool are a delight whilst the terrace is perfect to simply bask in a deck chair and enjoy the tranquil environment and views. Magnifico indeed!
