As with a number of other Firmdale hotels, the Number 16 has the stamp of legendary hoteliers Tim and Kit Kemp all over it. That usually means stunning interiors, so it’s small surprise, therefore, that the Number 16 has been called a “Temple of Sophistication”. It's an eclectic mix that encompasses august antique pieces and paintings with more modern furnishings and prints. It works really well.

Rooms are pretty large for such a centrally located hotel and the marble bathrooms are a treat. They come with very well appointed supplies, though if you want a bath and not just a shower do ask, as you may have to upgrade to superior double. Again, as is usually the case with the Firmdale group, location is second to none, and here you are in the very heart of South Kensington, just a stone's throw away from the Victoria & Albert, Natural History and Science Museums and a short walk to Harrods, Knightsbridge and Brompton Cross shopping. If its bars, cafes and restaurants you're after then Kensington Gardens is close by.

Yet despite the hustle and bustle of central London. The Number 16 oozes peace inside. Go past its white stucco facade and peace reigns, whether it is enjoying the breakfast in the conservatory or resting in the beautiful tree-filled garden which on warmer, sunny day is just great for having a drink and relaxing.
