Some places may be wonderfully decorated, have great views or be located in a place of wonder, but without that welcoming touch and charm, it is reduced to practically nothing, in our opinion.

That’s why we always try to find not only places of true beauty, but also ones that make you feel truly welcome and special. Despite the fact that the Dar Cordoba is beautiful in itself what really impressed us were Juan and Angeles. Nothing seems to be too much for them and they truly want you to make the most of your stay. With typical Spanish exuberance, they have also managed to mix Moroccan and Andalusian themes to perfection, with each of the five rooms being uniquely decorated and highly comfortable. It may not be the most sumptuous or showy, but it definitely comes in first place for intimacy, warmth and simple joie de vivre.

The terrace, of course, boasts great views of the Medina and a typically wonderful breakfast there (totally home made with Moroccan pancakes and bread, orange juice, great coffee (or tea) is an experience in itself. We think it’s a delightful place to stay and if you are looking for a genuine stay home from home rather than standardised hotel service, this is the place for you.

Oh by the way, despite the location by the Medina with all the buzz and activity it entails, the Dar Cordoba is located in a small side street. Though cars can’t enter there (you park some 50 metres away) neither does the noise. It’s a quiet as a church.
