Uncomplicated and unhurried.
In keeping with Alentejo area of Portugal, the Herdade das Barradas de Serra is simple, uncomplicated and unhurried. As a wise traveller once said of this region "it is one of the last spots where you really have freedom". Once you spend some time here, you'll know what he meant.
It all makes for a perfect antidote to stress and a pretty bewitching brew. In the case of this particular accommodation it is located at the foot of the Grândola hills and surrounded by a forest of oaks and cork trees that seem to go on for ever past the valleys and hills. It may look peaceful (and it is) but this is also a 800 hectare working farm that has been in the hands of the same family for over five generations, producing cork and breeding sheep – you’ll see a lot of these here. And boy does this family know a thing or two about hospitality.
The Herdade das Barradas da Serra is a source of pride to the Dias family and in shows in everything they do. It’s peace allied with comfort here, the ten rooms all being on the ample side and come with air conditioning plus sitting area. You might want to do a lot it (sitting that is) but it will be a shame not to visit the many unique charms of the areas, not least of which the superb Atlantic beaches 15 minutes away.
Herdade das Barradas da Serra Reviews
A rural accommodation at its best
The Barradas da Serra Estate is rural accommodation at its best. The estate is large and there are four trails for you to follow to explore for yourself. If you’re looking for a remote and peaceful holiday, you could easily stay here for a week or two."

Nature & Trekking
There are many paths around the farm. Perhaps you enjoy a long walk or a ride on a mountain bike in which to discover the Grândola hills.
Ther are some 1000 hectares available at the Barradads da Serra for hunting snipes, partridges, hares and wild pigs. These are the prevailing species around here.
