Casa la Rinconada

For many years, this was one of Azuelo’s liveliest homes. The ground floor served as the village shop, and above, the grandparents lived. It is where the current owner’s father was born. When the bustle faded, his son chose to open the house once more—not to reinvent it, but to let others feel the heartbeat of a lived life.

Thus Casa La Rinconada was born: a simple, welcoming rural house lovingly restored to preserve its character—wooden beams, stone walls, and the arched doorway that still leads into a slower pace of life. It is situated in the village centre, on a sunlit street facing the mountain range.

The house is rented in its entirety, spread out over three floors. Upon entering, you find a cosy living room, perfect for unwinding after a walk or enjoying a leisurely afternoon chat. The first floor holds three double bedrooms, two of which share a balcony facing the Romanesque church and the mountains. A full bathroom and the option for extra beds accommodate up to eight people.

On the top floor, beneath the original wooden roof, lies a spacious, light-filled kitchen: oven, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and plenty of room to cook with friends or family. There is also a large dining area, a sofa corner and an additional bathroom with a shower. It’s a place to gather, read, or watch how the light shifts across the day.

The decor is modest and genuine: traditional features alongside contemporary furniture create a calm ambiance. There is Wi‑Fi, though guests often choose to disconnect and appreciate the house’s slower rhythm.

From the front door, you can walk into paths winding through holm-oaks and fields, picking wildflowers or resting in the shade of a rock. At just 10 km away is the Camino de Santiago; in half an hour, you can reach Logroño, Estella or a winery in La Rioja. Pamplona, Vitoria or even Bilbao are viable for a day trip.

The village has no supermarkets, but every morning a delivery arrives with fresh bread; a few days each week it also brings fruit, meat and local produce. It’s part of everyday life here—unhurried and unobtrusive. Parking is easy, and pets are welcome upon request.

At night, the village falls silent and the sky above Azuelo stretches clear. Just step out onto the balcony or sit by the door to watch stars appear one by one, in a clarity rarely found. In that moment, with good company and the fresh country air, everything feels as it should be.
