To many, Sintra is one of Portugal’s most beautiful towns, if not the most beautiful. It is certainly one of the most visited, yet even here secrets still exist. So if you want to enjoy wonderful views over the mountains of Sintra let the boutique hotel Casa Holstein be you first stop.

It is near enough the centre so that the famous national palace of Sintra is only in 300 metres away. Yet it is large enough and hidden well enough amongst the eucalyptus trees of its large garden that guests will feel in the middle of the countryside, albeit one that offers the Moorish castle on top of the hill as a backdrop.

And whilst the Casa Holstein has been recently renovated, it stills oozes history and character. Rooms all retain their individual quality — no two are alike — but all are generously sized and beautifully decorated in a simple manner where nothing is over the top. There is also an excellent breakfast to be had where a choice of fresh food is the order of the day.

This being the Lisbon Coast there is an endless variety of things to see and do including water sports, riding or golf. A great mix of culture, action and relaxation.

Fabulous place in the middle of lush green gardens in Sintra. Beautiful rooms, quiet at night, great pool, very friendly service. This hotel is a true gem and a piece of heaven on earth.

Beautiful hotel. We stayed in room 1 which had beautiful decor, 2 fabulous bathrooms , huge comfortable bed and 2 doors leading to lovely patio area with table and chairs . Stunning location with views of the castles . Breakfast was fantastic. All the staff were attentive , friendly and extremely welcoming and were highly informative regarding the history of the hotel and Sintra . Diana and susan are lovely members of staff and a credit to the hotel. A very memorable stay and I would highly recommend this hotel.
