Peterc Vineyard Estate sits above Kojsko in Goriška Brda, where vineyard terraces soften the hills between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic. The six-bedroom house works especially well for gatherings of friends or families with older children who value good food, wine and the freedom to set their own pace. Days tend to move naturally between the garden, the panoramic pool and long meals outdoors, with Milena and Uroš Peterc on hand to organise as much or as little as the group requires. It feels less like a formal serviced stay and more like borrowing a thoughtfully composed country home in one of Slovenia’s most distinctive wine regions.

Where You Sleep

The house has six double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The interiors favour natural light, calm colours, original artwork and carefully chosen furnishings rather than an overtly rustic aesthetic. Windows draw the landscape indoors, framing vine-covered slopes, olive groves and, in clear weather, the distant Adriatic. The mood is polished but comfortable, with rooms designed for proper rest rather than display.

The shared spaces make it easy for twelve people to spend time together without feeling crowded. There is a fully equipped kitchen for informal cooking, a living room with a fireplace and several terraces and garden areas for reading, eating or opening another bottle from a nearby cellar. Outside, paths lead through the vineyard while the pool and sundeck become the natural centre of the house during warmer months.

A Bit of History

Milena and Uroš describe Peterc Vineyard Estate as a project concerned with capturing the past, conserving the present and creating the future. That philosophy feels particularly relevant in Brda, where vines, olive trees and orchards have shaped both the land and everyday life for generations. The estate looks across an old vineyard plot, and its approach to hospitality remains closely connected to the region’s food, wine, crafts and agricultural traditions.

Experiences, Services & Local Discoveries

The kitchen gives guests complete independence, but meals can also become part of the experience. Breakfast, private chefs, barbecues, catering and chef-led cooking classes may be arranged in advance. The focus is on seasonal produce and the flavours of Brda, a region known for wine, olive oil, fruit and dishes shaped by its position between Slovenian and Italian culinary cultures. These services are tailored to the group and may carry an additional charge.

Wine is the clearest route into the landscape. Private cellar visits and tastings can be organised, alongside olive-oil experiences, vineyard picnics and e-bike outings through the hills. Yoga, massage and other private wellness sessions are also available by arrangement. For more active days, the Soča Valley opens up possibilities for rafting and other outdoor pursuits, while the Adriatic coast is close enough for a change of scenery.

Brda itself rewards slow exploration. Šmartno is a small fortified village of stone lanes, historic houses and galleries, while the Gonjače viewing tower looks across the vineyards towards the Alps and the sea. Dobrovo Castle houses a collection of works by Slovenian artist Zoran Mušič, and the surrounding countryside is threaded with walking and cycling routes, family-run wine cellars and restaurants on both sides of the Italian border.

We Think You’ll Love

  • Breakfast lingering into late morning, prepared with seasonal produce from the region.
  • Sunset by the pool after an afternoon among the vineyards.
  • The freedom to cook together, call in a private chef or arrange a relaxed barbecue.
  • Milena and Uroš’s local knowledge, particularly when it comes to wine and food.
  • The ease of combining Brda, the Soča Valley, the Adriatic and neighbouring Italy.

Getting There & Getting Around: You Should Know

Peterc Vineyard Estate is in Kojsko, close to the Slovenian border with Italy. Trieste Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by car, while Venice Marco Polo, Treviso and Ljubljana airports are around 90 minutes away under normal traffic conditions. Private transfers can be arranged, but a car is strongly recommended for visiting wineries, restaurants and villages independently. Parking is available at the estate, as is electric-vehicle charging for an additional fee.

The outdoor pool is seasonal, and services such as breakfast, housekeeping, private chefs, treatments and guided experiences should be requested before arrival.
