Hotel Room Mate Alicia

The Room Mate Alicia is a new hotel in an old district and illustrious district, the “las Letras”, or the “Letters”, to give it its English name. The reason being that some of the most important authors of the Golden era of Spanish literature lived there: Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Góngora and Quevedo to name just a few.
This sure is cultural territory, for only a stone’s throw away there are also three world class museums – the Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen-Bornemisza, which make up the so called triangle of art. So the Rome Mate Alicia had a lot to live up to in terms of neighbourhood, history and culture, but given that decoration was thankfully under the auspices of the renowned interior designer Pascual Ortega, the end result is a 21st century hotel that fits in perfectly in 17th century Madrid - and believe us that doesn’t happen very often in this city. Modern facilities are, of course, brimming to the full whilst rooms are ample and very clean.
The lobby is large and comfortable, with a calm atmosphere that invites guests rest after a busy day’s sightseeing. Indeed, our firm recommendation is that should you want to submerge yourself in culture and atmosphere, then the Room Mate Alicia should definitely be on your shortlist.
