Riad 72

Welcome to one of the best places in town - the Riad 72 - a truly brilliant combination of traditional Moroccan hospitality and Italian flair. Why Italian, you may ask? Giovanna Cinel, a stylist by profession and owner, comes from Milan and has imbued the Riad 72 with all the Latin chic and sophistication one could ask for – minimalist decor, sleek furnishings and clean white lines putting it very much in the design/boutique mold.
Yet far from being cold, as is sometimes the case with design hotels, what we get is a truly cosy and warm atmosphere. Fantastic service, wonderful little touches throughout such as the serving of mint tea and some ornate coverings all make sure of that.
And with only 4 rooms, the Riad cannot be anything other than cosy and intimate. As for these, the suite in particular is the icing on the cake. It is truly beautiful and even comes with a sculpted ceiling and cupola. But in truth, the other rooms are totally charming in themselves and all lead on to the central courtyard which boasts a delightful garden with palm trees, banana plants and fountain.
Just the place to take that mint tea. On the other hand, you could have it on the terrace.
The solarium terrace must surely be one of the highest in the city and the upshot is great panoramic views of the whole Medina. Add to this hammam baths and Fatouma delightful cooking and you have the perfect recipe for a memorable stay in the heart of the old Medina of Marrakech.
