Casa d´Óbidos

Elegant manor house in Obidos.
Obidos, one of the most picturesque towns in the whole of Portugal, is known as the wedding city, since it was a traditional wedding gift of the Kings of Portugal to their Queens. Just one kilometre away from its walled battlements lies the wonderful 19th century mansion of the same name.
It was built, curiously, by one of Eiffel’s engineers who came over to direct the construction of the railway line. The current owners have done a marvellous job in restoring the Casa d'Óbidos and provided it with all the right details to create an atmosphere of sophistication. The living, dining and games rooms are all furnished with antique furniture of taste and refinement, bedrooms are beautiful and comfortable and the attractive garden surrounding it, which incidentally contains many types of fruits and specimens, is a further delight.
Great views of Obidos Castle are another bonus, as is the substantial and beautifully served breakfast consisting of numerous types of bread, cakes, ham, cheese, scrambled eggs and bacon, and fruits.
