Le Mas de la Rose

Who hasn’t dreamed, on a wet Monday morning stuck in a traffic jam, of just chucking it all away and heading off to different climes? Let’s face it, we’ve all done it at some time or other and if so our thoughts may well turn to Provence. To many, it is the personification of romantic rural France, what with those rolling hills, cute villages, wonderful cuisine and way of life of its people.
The list of reasons to go there goes on and on and it is places like the Le Mas de La Rose that inspire many to do so. This heavenly piece of authentic Provence is located some 5 minutes from the wonderful village of Eygalières, in 75 acres of parkland with pine trees, olive trees and lavender bushes, so just imagine the scene. It is not an easy place to describe, for those dry-stone walls and terraces, light, shade and landscapes that stretch as far as the eye can see have to be experienced rather than written about. But believe us when we say a stay here is inspirational.
Despite the rural location, the entire house is gorgeously decorated throughout, from the public areas to each and every room, which we’d say border on the luxurious. The grounds, of course, all 75 acres of them, are flawless and include an infinity type pool, lavender garden and hammock.
There’s even a petanque and tennis court as well as an area for practicing golf shots so this stress free environment does not preclude activity. In our opinion, the le Mas de la Rose is more than just a guest house; it is a magical 17th century hamlet and one of “the” places to stay in authentic Provence.
