Villa Kynthia

When we say that parts of Crete still remain pretty much off the beaten track, with a relatively low influx of tourists, then its places such as the small fishing village of Panormo we have in mind. It may only be 25 km from Rethymno, or 55 km from Heraklio and Knossos, but it remains strong to its roots - a small village with plenty of typical tavernas to eat and fine, sandy, beaches to boot.
The Villa Kynthia, a late 19th century house, is an integral part of Panormo, in part because of a loving renovation undertaken by the owners, Antonis, a wine producer and his sister Korina. They have imbued the place with their own special brand of charm, to which can be added period pieces, wood panelled ceilings and beamed eves. The end result is friendly five room (suites, double and apartment) guest house that makes for a fantastic stay.
Step through the ornate gateway and you what you see is a lovely sheltered pool courtyard, shaded by a pine tree and aside a raised pool. It is the most perfect spot to relax we can think of.
Breakfast can be taken here alongside the colourful and aromatic flowers. The interior decoration together with the furnishings and the architectural structure combine to create a time reminiscent of days gone by. At the same time all modern conveniences (central heating, air conditioning, TV, radio, telephone, free wireless Internet, safety box, refrigerator and hair dryer) expected in such quality accommodation can be found. Each room at Villa Kynthia has its own character and style and caters to different family needs.
