El Refugio de Cristal

This “Bioclimatic” Country House in Toledo, just 1 ½ hours away from Madrid in the enigmatic Castilla-la-Mancha region, has a wonderful philosophy of life. One which we think all should adhere to from time to time (if not always). It was designed from the start as “a place where you can forget about stress, traffic, and the alarm clock… a place where you can lose yourself”. Mind you, it’s pretty easy to do this here given the unrivalled setting: the Cabañeros National Park. It is a beautiful part of the world and an area which seems to have been forgotten by the hordes of tourists travelling to the more beaten tracks.
One of the great things about El Refugio de Cristal is that this connection to nature and surroundings has not precluded a modern touch and feel. In fact, that is the whole point of the place to combine modern day living with the exuberant natural surroundings. A number of walls in the public areas for example, are made of glass to let the glorious light and vistas shine through and furnishings are innovative and contemporary. The rooms, in particular, follow this vein and are modern with vanguard décor, air-conditioning and private terraces for taking breakfast or reading, etc, to take in all those views (again the outside walls are made of glass). It is, paraphrasing the El Refugio de Cristal itself “A dream setting for all your senses”.
