Could this be the way that eco tourism develops in future? Aldeia da Pedralva is not just a single accommodation or boutique hotel. It’s a complete village with its own ecosystem in the heart of Portugal’s Vicentine coast - and not an ordinary one at that. It’s the brainchild of Antonio Ferreira who was looking for a different type of place that met his lofty requirements for an eco resort.
A quiet place, close to everything but at the same time away from the confusion, near nature and the sea, near the greatest number of beaches, and space for children.
The answer, after many years of searching in vain, was the Aldeia da Pedralva. Before Antonio arrived the village was completely deserted, but after he set eyes on it the idea hit him that given its location and natural attributes, this could make a fabulous active tourism resort. And so he set about buying all the houses individually.
Nowadays, Aldeia da Pedralva comes complete with its own gourmet store, restaurant, outlet and it even has its own business centre equipped with audiovisual technology and computers. Except that in this village there are no traffic lights! It is a place to disconnect - there is no Internet or mobile network in the country houses, only Wi-Fi service in the common areas of the village such as the restaurant etc.
After two years hard graft the “village” now boasts 31 houses in all - 13 with one bedroom, 8 with two bedrooms and 2 with three bedrooms. There are dozens of things to do here, it’s not a sleepy village. In fact, part of this new eco concept is that Aldeia da Pedralva can help you in numerous nature activities. From surfing, biking and fishing, to trekking, bird watching and golf – amongst many other things to do.
Great for kidsNatural beautySimple pleasuresSporty and fun
Very nice village with 2 restaurants and very friendly staff.
Isolation of the houses is not good as you can hear your neighbor like he’s in your house. But shouldn’t hold you from booking there.

calmity close to the beaches

Cercano a muchas playas tranquilas y preciosas.

thank you for a fabulous experience; we are already longing to come back and have told everyone how much we loved our stay, even though it was frustratingly brief
The perfect find

So wonderful we just want to go right back. I almost hate to say how great it is for fear of its being overrun! Will definitely return!
Just a great experience

Nice and autentic but too expansive

We liked the village. It‘s kept very beautiful and authentic. But we found the price too high for what is offered. The houses are very small and the rooms are not cleaned on a daily base.
It has the Price of a good Hotel but does not offer the comfort of an Hotel.

This is a nice little village where some cottages are private and others belrong to the hotel. The cottages are very charming with a nice mix of wooden furniture. A lot of thought has been put into each place. There is an excellent breakfast and the restaurant in very good as well. You can dine inside or on the terrace. There is also an excellent pizzeria. You have to take the car to go to the beach but there are some lovely ones all around. Only critic is that the cottages are so clos that you can hear your neighbour snore (really!).
Algunas cosas a mejorar

Very Good Idea, reasonable implementation

Very Good Idea, the concept is very genuine and original. This cottage is ideal for families with kids (not babies) and it's very easy to forget our regular life. However the comfort of the houses need some improvements - more natural light and a small terrace to be.
1 negative point

I loved the experience, my only regret is that in a place so beautiful framed in nature, the garbage dumps are placed at the entrance of the village.
nice for a while

We enjoyed the beaches around Pedralva and the good location. The little village is cute but little overestimated. The breakfast is not to be recommended as consists of the cheapest basics (bread, cheese, ham) bought at a supermarket which might not even be portugues. And most of all the coffee is coming from a machine. would be all ok if not charged 8€ per Person which is way to much. for some travelers who do not pay attention to selected foods this might be ok.
The superb Pizza Pazza place in the village rescues the day.
