Vida na Aldeia

Just 25 minutes from the coast, São Luís is one of those villages that have managed to preserve their authenticity. Its pace is slow, its landscape marked by rolling hills and orchards, and its community is a blend of locals and new residents drawn to art and sustainable living. Unlike the bustling coastal towns, this is a haven of peace, even in the height of summer.

On the edge of the village, Vida na Aldeia is a carefully restored traditional Alentejo house. Its interior blends simplicity with craftsmanship: ceramics from Oficina na Escola, textiles by Rita Kroh, lamps by Musgo, baskets from the Algarve, and tableware from Caldas da Rainha. With two bedrooms, a spacious living room, and an open kitchen, the space invites relaxation without pretension.

The exterior follows the same spirit. From the garden with olive and fruit trees to the small pool, everything is designed to connect with nature. Here, the views open up to the village’s backyards and the Alentejo hills, a reminder that while São Luís has the soul of a village, its horizon is vast. Bicycles are the ideal way to move around the village, whether to visit the market, a café, or a restaurant; it is recommended to rent one in advance through Aventura Activa or Mira Trails. To explore the region with greater freedom, having a car is essential.

Upon arrival, guests will find a complimentary light meal, a thoughtful detail to ensure a relaxed start to their stay. In summer, beach towels are provided, and in winter, a box of firewood for the fireplace. The house accommodates a maximum of four people, with no exceptions, and a calm dog may be allowed, but only with prior confirmation
