Magnificently located Costa Brava hotel.
There can be no denying that the Aigua Blava is located in one of the most spectacular cliffs in the whole of the Costa Brava, a magnificent combination of blue water, whitewashed houses and green coast. Added all together, they make for a fantastic setting and great views to behold. This alone is enough of a reason to stay here, but the Aigua Blava Hotel does have other tricks up its sleeve, not least the welcoming nature of the Capella family who look after guests like friends.
The Capella’s may have transformed their house into a hotel in 1940, yet despite its growing size and sophistication it still very much retains a family feel. It has kept all of its original style and though not in the top luxury bracket it is more than comfortable. Decorated by the family themselves, each room is different to each other and range from the plain to sophisticated. A number also come with sea views and terraces.
A word of advice, when booking, however. It is recommended to do so well in advance, as the Aigua Blava is one of those places where guests come back every year.
The Aigua Blava is listed as a 4-star hotel. It should be 5-star. The hotel nestles in a beautiful cove, with a fabulous terrace dining room overlooking the bay. The food for half-board guests is great, with a superb choice on the menu and even more to choose from if you go a-la-carte. Good wine list with many local wines from the Emporda region. Friendly and helpful staff and wonderfully comfortable rooms with great views from private balconies. Altogether a 'not-to-be-missed' hotel.

Hotel staff very good, location and room very good, but lacking tea making facilities and poor snacks (inferior chips and almonds). Also no possibilities to obtain any better snacks later on from the bar. Unworthy for a hotel in this price range. So was the quality of the food in the restaurant, overpriced an mediocre considering the overall qualities in this area!
Would not come a second time.
