Villa Rosmarino

Oh how we love this sort of place - a perfect example of a beautiful home from home. As the Villa Rosmarino itself states “you don’t simply stay at the villa. You live in it” and with a wonderful swimming pool, garden and hospitality to boot.
But it also has the added advantage of being located on Mount Portofino, a protected area that stretches out into the open sea, as well as a natural border between the Golfo Paradiso and Golfo del Tigullio, the end result of which is jaw dropping scenery overlooking the enchanting village of Camogli, a place that has enticed many writers over time, including one of the greatest – Charles Dickens.
Yet for many years, the Villa Rosmarino was a neglected piece of rubble, the original of which dated back to 1907. Thankfully for anyone who goes there, it was rebuilt by Mario, the current owner, as a typical Ligurian Palazzo. This means green shutters and trompe l’oeil, decorations and floral motifs. Yet inside the décor is defined by modern furnishing and Italian design with an ubiquitous use of works of art by contemporary international artists.
Large sofas, a communal designer long table, a modern fireplace and even library with a long terrace overlooking the pool and Golfo Paradiso are just perfect for relaxing. And it is just beautiful, with the photos, paintings and contemporary figurines all vying for your attention.
Oh, and another thing not to be missed, the breakfast which, weather permitting you can take on the terrace.
Water buffs will also love it. The waters surrounding Mount Portofino are part of a Natural Reservoir where guests can navigate, swim and dive in the clearest of blue waters, or simply enjoy the freshest of fish by having lunch or dinner in one of the excellent restaurants that can only be reached by boat.
Any drawbacks? Perhaps if you’ve got kids. It is not the best place for small children but apart from that, welcome to Vila Rosmarino and enjoy the good things in life.
