Blue House

Blue dominates this charming country home: blue sea, blue sky, and blue house. This rural house has a lot of charm – no doubt about it. It is surrounded by beautiful nature full of cork oaks, and the coastline has spectacular beaches. With a bit of luck, you can spot dolphins playing along the coast. Lisbon airport is 115km away, and the neighbouring villages are the fashionable Comporta and Melides.  The house was renovated in 2008 by Sofia, who wanted to respect the Alentejo architecture and decoration, filling this space with lovingly thought-out details. 

In Blue House you will find a very relaxed atmosphere, since it is completely isolated, with all the necessary comforts for a quiet and uncomplicated stay. With its beautiful sunsets, its more than 7.5 hectares, and its nearest beach is only 20 minutes away. The closest restaurant is 15 minutes away. Please note that the house is accessible by a 1500 m dirt road.

The original house has an outside dining terrace that sits 10 people facing south – built on several intermediate levels, with original “taipa” walls and an outhouse with a large fridge/freezer and washing machine. The kitchen in the house is fully equipped and operational and the indoor dining area sits 6 people. There are 4 bedrooms in total, 3 in the main house and 1 in an independent cottage on the grounds. The first bedroom of the main house is built on a mezzanine upon entering the house and features a small double bed – please be aware that this bedroom does not have full privacy since it is a mezzanine. There is a second double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom that sleeps 2 guests and a third bedroom with 2 bunk beds that sleeps 4 guests, which also has an ensuite bathroom. In the living room, there is a fireplace, a television, and various games.

The independent cottage, with its small intimate terrace facing east, features a double bedroom that sleeps 2 and a bathroom and dressing area.

In addition, the property also has a large separate 6 x 7m lounge area with glass sliding doors, which can be fully opened onto the garden. It is a lovely space with a chill-out atmosphere where one can relax, read, chat, or even sit down for meals – next to it are the outdoor showers and barbeque area.

The pool is 50m away, and although not very big, it has beautiful views and is surrounded by trees. This place has it all, and we recommend it to both families and friends, and you can also bring your pet.

Note that the house respects all the characteristics of a traditional Alentejo accommodation.
