Relais Vedetta

You can tell a hotel is out of the ordinary or special, especially a simple B & B, when on booking it offers you a selection of pillows to choose from: goose-feathers, perhaps? Maybe aloe scented or anallergic. What kind of music are you into? Classical, meditation, world music?
Even the room names show a different approach to things. No simple doubles or singles here. What you get is the Unstoppable Explorer, The upstanding Maremman Gentleman, The Young Lady of Good Family, etc. There are six rooms in all with such exotic sounding names (see rooms for more details).
It’s that sort of attention to detail and quirkiness that makes the Relais Vedetta special. Saying it is a “simple” b & b, as we did at the beginning, however, is doing it a bit of a disservice. Simple perhaps, in the sense of a friendly atmosphere and that fresh country style welcome, where what you see is what you get.
But this particular b & b is also a luxury home from home done up with superb style by the Barberini family, one of the historic families of the region. That means mixed in with the modern and design aspects of the house, you get family heirlooms from way back.
To all this you can add a position comfortably nestled on top of a panoramic hill with stunning views of the Gulf of Follonica (all of it) - from Elba to the Argentario peninsula in southern Tuscany.
This means countryside mixed in with the sea added to the mix of great hospitality, history and no end of charm in one of Italy's most charismatic regions.
