Boutique bed & breakfast near the beautiful Arrábida Hills. Há Mar ao Luar can be roughly translated as “Moonlight by the Sea”. The name may indicate this old converted mill is near the Ocean and the night stars here are pretty exceptional, but it does not prepare guests for the absolutely paradisiacal views of the Sado Estuary and Ocean that awaits them.
The vistas it affords are truly magnificent, and with it being a haven of peace and quiet the Há Mar ao Luar is simply an excellent spot to get away from it all. It also has the added bonus of being located in one of the most interesting regions of the Lisbon Coast - the Setubal Peninsula and Arrabida Hills - just some 30 mile south of the capital. If you’ve also always wanted to stay in a mill, then here’s your chance, for in addition to the three houses and thatched roof cottage that make up the Há Mar ao Luar, there is also an old mill that proudly stands at the highest point of the estate and from whose terrace the views simply blow the mind away.
One can almost be forgiven for forgetting about the place itself, but it does the area justice with simple, light airy and comfortably decorated in understated proportions. Local rustic pieces combine with the paintings of lighthouses and ships to good effect, both in the mill and the cottages. If you can tear yourself away from the views then nearby you will find impressive granite ridges rising out from the sea, lush Mediterranean flora, sandy beaches, coves (some of which are can only be reached by boat) and superb natural settings.
Final note: In August, there is a minimum stay requirement of 5 nights.
It was a perfect accomodation, nice place with fantastic view, lovely atmosphere, clean, friendly and with good breakfast. We felt very well!

Precioso enclave en Setúbal, con unas vistas maravillosas a Troia. La situación es ideal para visitar los alrededores de Setúbal y, a la vez, muy cerca del centro de la ciudad para ir a cenar por la noche. Perfecto para ir con niños.

As we drove through the urban streets of Setubal we couldn't believe it when our GPS told us that Ha Mar Ao Luar was only a few kilometers away. But, sure enough, we turned off the main street, wound our way up and up and up beyond the fortifications to the very top of the hill where the hotel sits behind closed gates. Based on the photos, we had chosen to stay in the "Sea Hut," with what looked to be a terrific view of the sea. The view was exactly like the photo, but everything else was quite a bit funkier...the wooden cabin had slats that were open to the outside, allowing cold air to come in. There was, thank God, a pellet burning heater which made the room warm and toasty, but the bathroom was freezing as the heat didn't reach that far. The bathroom was also cramped and less accommodating than we had expected (it could use a good updating). The kitchen was well-equipped; there were, however, an alarming number of appliances plugged into the few old electrical plugs in the cabin. That said, we received a nice welcome and breakfast (brought to our cabin in the morning) was excellent. The other rooms we saw looked much more stylish and luxurious than the "Sea Hut"; I would advise travelers to choose one of the other rooms to avoid the "funky factor."
Ein toller Urlaub

Very well chosen for its location, ambience, style and character. We loved being there, so close to Setubal centre and harbour, yet in total tranquility surrounded by its lush garden. Great view.
The interior decoration is stylish, yet simple; lovely colour scheme.
The owner is charming.
