B&B La Rectoria de Sant Miquel de Pineda

La Rectoria de Sant Miquel de Pineda is a stunning B&B set in the Garrotxa Volcanic Nature Reserve within the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees. Your hosts, Roy and Goretti, undertook a lengthy 4-year renovation project of this former priest’s house, which dates back to the 12th century, and have carefully restored it into the incredible property that it is today.

Offering 7 spacious double rooms, each with ensuite bathrooms, this quiet, verdant, mountainous corner of Catalonia is the ideal place to enjoy some ‘slow tourism’.

Outside, the secluded saltwater swimming pool, large lawn, and patio that wraps around the old chapel offer privacy, peace and space to relax in. Enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif or simply take in the view down the Vall d’Hostoles.   

Roy a chef, uses the abundant local ingredients; artisan cheeses, mushrooms and seasonal fruit from the garden to prepare almost everything from breakfast preserves to the daily changing dinner menu.  And allow Goretti’s knowledge of Scottish whisky to guide you through the menu of selected single malts or wines from selected Catalan vineyards. Or why not try her Ratafia, a homemade digestive made from handpicked herbs.   

The surrounding nature area is ideal for enjoying long walks and hikes and La Rectoria also has a bike rental option. Roy and Goretti can even assist guests with arranging a hot air balloon ride – the special way to view this incredible region of Spain.
