Pousada Picinguaba

You don’t get to be named as one of the 80 most extraordinary hotels in the world by a major publisher (Hip Hotels) without a very good reason - or several good reasons for that matter.
But that is precisely the accolade given to the Picinguaba. “Idyllic”, “breathtakingly beautiful”, “out of the ordinary” have all been used to describe the Picinguaba, amongst other adjectives, and they are all spot on.
This is a place made for absolute tranquillity and as if to emphasise the fact there are no TVs, phones or Internet in any of the rooms. Even the local road stops at the beach and one has to walk the last 250 metres to the hotel, nestled in the forest. The idea here is to be attuned to nature and so the only sounds you will hear are the wind in the palm trees and the sea gently lapping the shore.
And with only 10 comfortable rooms available (9 doubles and a fantastic honeymoon suite with its own en-suite Jacuzzi) even the chances of a noisy neighbour are minimised. The very same rooms are decorated in the most tasteful simplicity and all open out onto the natural surroundings and wonderful views of the sea and the 3 km long protected beach.
Overgrowing luscious tropical flowers and plants form natural screens for the rooms, with humming birds as visitors.
The Picinguaba is very special indeed, a classy hideaway and the only luxury accommodation within a 30 km radius set within an extraordinary natural location.
