La Vie de Cocagne
Hotel Type: Cottage

Number of Rooms: 3

The very title “la Vie de Cocagne” gives something away about the place. Basically it’s an old turn of phrase expressing a life of comfort and laziness in the country, and also a song alluding to the joys of country living.
So it’s an apt title, to say the least. The area surrounding La Vie de Cocagne is one of pastoral beauty, right in the heart of Bonnebosq, and famous for being part of the cider route - hence the seemingly never ending orchards.
What about the La Vie de Cocagne itself? It probably started off life as a stable in the 18th century and this timbered house lives up to its name perfectly, mixing a cosy feel with interesting and off beat furnishings - guests will probably notice the religious artifacts on hand, for example.
Wherever you are in the house, it is always comfortable and the combination of old and new (WIFI, flat screen TV and stainless steel appliances).
The area is picture postcard Normandy and walking trails abound. Beautiful Deauville and Honfleur are not too far away and it is easy to see why this area has been a magnet to many people looking to get away from it all, not least of which Proust, Monet and even Claudia Cardinale.
In short, it fulfills its mission statement to perfection “to be your house for a weekend, or a week, without having to handle with all the tasks and expenses of a second home”.
