Cotswold is a hilly region in England, also referred to as the heart of England. It consists of six counties, one of which is Gloucestershire. Gloucestershire can be further divided in three regions: the major part of the Cotswold, the Royal Forest of Dean and the Severn Vale. The hills create together with the vales and the river Avon a landscape of natural beauty and a special magic, which has already inspired famous artists like J.R.R Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. Gloucestershire is known for its cities and the houses of a warm, honey-coloured limestone. Until today, many noble mansions can be found in this district, as a consequence of the richness from sheep wool in old times.
