Akrich

Akrich Hotel is located on a hill at around 700 metres above sea level, close to the Atlas Mountains and less than 30 minutes from Marrakech.

It is a very personal place, where getting to know the other guests and Doris, the Swiss owner, is naturally part of the stay. There are a few other residents too: seven donkeys, three dogs, chickens and ducks, all very much part of daily life here.

The hotel has just five spacious rooms, all built using traditional earth construction, which helps to keep them naturally cool. There is no air conditioning, but there is a large swimming pool. The emphasis here is on enjoying the Moroccan countryside, taking things at an easy pace and sharing the experience with the people around you.

In winter, the rooms are heated with olive wood, adding to the warm and homely atmosphere. The property is surrounded by around 250 olive trees and produces its own extra virgin olive oil.

Doris cooks herself, together with her two members of staff, preparing Moroccan, Italian, Thai and Swiss dishes. Despite the peaceful rural setting, the lively streets and medina of Marrakech are only about 30 minutes away.
